Marie Ava is an Artist Designer currently based in Paris, France. With a background in psychosociology from the University of Strasbourg and over a decade of experience in strategy and business development, Marie made a courageous choice to fully dedicate herself to the world of art.

Her journey as an artist officially began in 2016 when she transitioned from creating and designing for other artists to showcasing and selling her own creations. This shift marked a bold departure from her previous career, demonstrating her belief that pursuing one's passion is not only possible but essential.

Marie embodies her commitment to driving positive change in the world, especially in addressing the collective challenges that current and future generations must confront.

Marie's creative process is deeply intertwined with her values. She carefully selects materials and employs techniques that align with her mission to contribute to the circular economy, reduce her carbon footprint, and maintain her artistic freedom.

She believes that art can be a powerful force for increasing collective consciousness, empowering women, fostering a circular and sustainable economy, promoting innovation, advancing education and child protection, conserving biodiversity, and promoting responsible energy management.

Her artistic expression knows no bounds, both conceptually and across a diverse range of mediums, including mixed media, painting, sculpture, fashion, Culinary art & digital art,... Marie is also passionate about photography and captivated by the synergy of music and dance in her performances.

One of her hallmarks as an artist is the Raw, tactile and interractive nature of her work, inviting the sighted and visually impaired to engage with and appreciate her art through touch and all the other senses.

I exist to bear witness to my vision of the world, of my time, to have a positive impact on the world and on everything I encounter. For me, designing and creating Works of Art is the most authentic way of doing so. Beauty, awareness and quality, for me, are not a luxury but a necessity.

Dead name: RhOri

Marie AVA created the canvas and frame for this artwork in 2016, marking the official beginning of her artistic journey. The initial inspiration behind this creation was pure individual expression. At the time, she used bold splashes of bright red paint, evoking the vitality of blood.

However, over the course of a long personal and artistic journey, Marie underwent a profound transformation. She evolved not only in her personal identity but also in her artistic identity. To honor the history of this first artwork while marking this evolution, she decided to highlight the initial inscriptions.

This is how her new artistic symbol, the totem, was born. In this new phase of her journey, she chose black to express the artist's maturity and period of sobriety. The gold leaves, on the other hand, symbolize the victory we can achieve over our past.

Finally, the Hery symbol represents rebirth from our ashes and the courage to embrace our new version while bearing the scars of the past, which constitute our beauty and strength.

Through "Hery," Marie AVA invites us to reflect on our own journey of transformation, to embrace our history while looking to the future with determination. This artwork reflects her artistic and personal evolution, symbolizing the power of creativity and resilience.

Collection: TANY

"Ova" is a work of art that was born from a musical melody that Marie AVA heard one night. It is the last part of the "TANY" Collection, which comprises nearly 30 pieces, all of which have been sold. This canvas is a journey through her Asian, Oceanic, and Arab origins, exploring civilizations with rich musical traditions and cultures. It also pays homage to her ancestors, many of whom were royal musicians.

This artwork is a nod to her Western education, symbolized by the prominent horizontal lines that resemble musical staves. These lines evoke memories of instruments like the valiha, kabosy, harps, zithers, and other stringed instruments that filled her childhood and imagination. Additionally, the rectangular shapes made from Zebu horn remind us of piano keys, underlining her deep connection and respect for her spirit animal, the Zebu.

The colors used in this piece harken back to the red earth and the island where she spent a significant part of her childhood. Surrounded on all sides by the blue ocean, this island both isolates from the world and preserves ancient traditions and cultures, offering protection and a sense of continuity. And we always find the Gold of Nobility, which Marie is particularly fond of, because for her it is the ultimate symbol of our transformation and the Victory that we have over adversity.

This artwork serves as a reminder of the profound beauty that emerges when diverse cultures and traditions harmonize, much like the symphony of life itself. It invites you to listen to the silent music woven into every stroke of paint, each piece of Zebu horn, and the vibrant hues that dance across the canvas. "Aïko" which means "My Life" written with a Japanese sound, conveys the vital place of an individual for whom we are willing to give our own life, recognizing their significance is as important as our own existence.

This artwork was collaboratively created by Marie AVA and her son, serving as a tribute to their Asian heritage, with a special affinity for Japanese culture. It also serves as a reflection of the numerous journeys they have embarked upon together, from pregnancy to birth and through the early years of her son's life. It beautifully intertwines the Western and Exotic cultures that have shaped their lives and that they navigate daily. This cultural fusion is notably depicted through the gentle and profound shades of blue that intermingle on the canvas.

In particular, "Aïko" commemorates the recent year-long journey they undertook after five years of adventures far from France. This artwork symbolizes the trials, exiles, fears, and hopes expressed through the abstract reliefs present on the canvas. Embedded within the artwork is a broken compass, which can be interpreted by the viewer as a symbol of the times when we lose our way or as a reminder of the importance of finding our bearings at some point in life's journey.

"Fomba" is a departure from Marie AVA's typical artistic style, but it's a necessary one to convey both the artist's personal journey and that of her entire collection, "Tany," which revolves around the concept of Earth and origins.

This piece explores sculpture to emphasize the omnipresence of our social masks, which often conceal our deeper truths and identities. These masks are deeply rooted in our origins, in the very soil of our upbringing – the earth of our ancestors, where we will all rest one day.

The soil represents our conditioning (specifically collected at a depth of 30 meters for its symbolism of deep roots) and the environments in which we grow. It also emphasizes the significance of the ancestral land where we will eventually rest.

The attempt to present fabric as a full-fledged relief, especially that of noble textiles, serves as a reminder that this element adorns us and tells the story of the caste, family, or social class from which we hail. Yet, in death, it will also serve to cover and accompany us into the red earth we once trod upon but will eventually be buried within.

The presence of leather symbolizes the immutability and rigidity of these conditionings, social pressures, and our occasional struggles to break free from them. Therefore, it is only partially embedded within the canvas, not completely.

Furthermore, "Fomba" denounces the obligation for gender-fluid or unknown individuals to disguise themselves and hide behind masks to survive and be accepted by their families and in such archaic societies. It carries a powerful message. The masks' similarity, without clear indications of feminine or masculine identity, challenges fundamental ideas in traditional societies and cultures that insist on a heterosexual family model. It pays tribute to Marie's deep commitment to respecting individual gender and identity over the normative rules established by our ancestors and the status quo.

"ROSO" is a collection where Marie's style becomes more distinct, retaining her signature elements of abstraction and relief while leaning towards a more restrained color palette.

"Mavo" perfectly reflects this evolution as it captures the chill of Nordic environments where she often finds herself. It portrays the beauty that can be found in these landscapes, hence the presence of yellow, symbolizing sunlight piercing through the icy white.

Marie also dares to explore imperfections and the beauty within them, much like a snow-covered mountain. It can be intimidating yet incredibly beautiful. There's always a hint of darkness, represented by the depth of black. "Mavo" primarily conveys hope for the journey ahead, both inward and outward.

Marie AVA's artworks are all part of this inner exploration, which is essential for making the most of our journey in this life and on this earth.

"Sento," literally meaning "Sighs," was commissioned by one of the artist's early private collectors. It tells the story of disappointment and betrayal that we can experience from those closest to us. It also reflects the risk we take every time we open our hearts.

Exceptionally, this work incorporates reused aluminum, symbolizing the hardness of our hearts once they have been wounded. The partial lights in the artwork symbolize hope and the necessity to rise again. However, the fact that they are in relief signifies that the scars remain, and it is still challenging to recover from the setbacks in our human relationships.

It encourages self-acceptance and self-love without compromise. "Embracing our dark side to reveal our entire light" is its underlying message. In essence, "Baby Black" tells us to love ourselves as we are.

The Baobab is "The" World Plant Heritage to be saved. 90% went up in smoke, due to the ignorance and poverty of the people living around. , the largest baobab forest in the world needs an emergency preservation plan including concrete actions: Planting, Teaching, Allowing people to Generate alternative income that does not endanger ecosystems.
